On the 7th November 2024, over 60 food industry professionals convened in Budapest to engage in discussions regarding the latest challenges and opportunities related to sustainability within the sector. The day featured a series of insightful presentations and valuable networking opportunities.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Beáta Olga Felkai, Deputy State Secretary responsible for food chain supervision at the Ministry of Agriculture, who provided a policy-oriented perspective on sustainability.
As emphasized by our speakers, the pursuit of sustainability is not only a collective responsibility but also a significant opportunity for advancement. However, it necessitates a systemic approach that considers the various stakeholders in the supply chain and their interdependencies.
This systemic approach is exemplified by the ENOUGH Project, which is developing multiple solutions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the food industry.
- Zsófia Kertész presented the overarching concept and findings of the project, underscoring the necessity for precise emission data to formulate effective mitigation strategies for the sector.
- Ákos Szentgyörgyi introduced the technology review roadmaps tailored for the audience.
- Tünde Kuti discussed consumer perspectives on sustainability, food waste, and alternative proteins.
In the afternoon, opportunities provided by EIT Food were presented to the participating companies, alongside current funding opportunities and ongoing projects designed to support various stakeholders within the supply chain.
