From 9 to 12 April 2024, ENOUGH attended the 5th Global Food Security Conference in Leuven (Belgium).
The ENOUGH project was well represented both by a poster (presented by Cristina-Maria Iordan from SINTEF) and by the Work Package 7 with an oral presentation entitled “Are multi-stakeholders initiatives promoting decarbonization in the food supply chain?”. The presentation was allocated in Session 1A, which focused on the theme “Net Zero”, with “General data” as a sub-theme.
The presentation assessed the perspectives of EU consumers on overarching sustainability topics and drew on data from the Eurobarometer (version 92.3).
The questions asked focused mainly on the outcomes of research, such as what to do with the spotted gaps and the analysis points. This highlights a political outcome and coupled strategies should be put in place. ENOUGH’s work goes beyond, by elaborating policy briefs with the highlights of its work, a fact that affects both empirical findings and their communication to a wider audience.
During the conference, ENOUGH’s partners also attended talks with similar motivation, such as “Food environments, European Policies, and sustainable food consumption” by Erik Mathijs (KU Leuven). This helped to create connections and synergies with similar projects. For example, there was an interesting poster about food literacy and how consumers perceive sustainable issues throughout the food supply chain (Alicia Martin – University of Gelph, Canada).
