COP28 took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 30 November to 12 December 2023.
Several partners from the ENOUGH project attended the event. The theme of “clean and sustainable cooling” had far more of a focus than at previous COPs.
One session hosted by the ENOUGH partners concerned the “Leapfrog to a sustainable agricultural cold chain in low-income economies”, where the ENOUGH project and other projects were presented.
As well as working on sustainability for the European food chain, ENOUGH partners are also working in low- and middle-income countries to ensure that cold chains are sustainable, equitable and appropriate for the users. This includes reducing food loss and waste as a means of feeding the 30% of the world’s population suffering moderate or severe food insecurity. To achieve this, we need to establish international collaboration and develop demonstration and training facilities in these regions. The technology and solutions developed as part of ENOUGH are not only applicable to European industry, but should be shared internationally.
